Here I am in the Singapore airport at a free internet terminal....and there are about a dozen computers right around me for people to use....Singapore is a really modern city that is super easy, safe, and clean. Everything went smooth on my flight over here except that my duffel bag never made it.....lost in the pacific somewhere. No worries though.....Singapore airlines took care of me and gave me petty cash for my trouble yesterday and to go buy some clothes. I am sure my bag will make it eventually but the important thing is that I have my passport and yoga mat.
I spent last night with my friends Woolsey and Steff from Mount Shasta. They live and work here and have a great place right downtown. We had a sweet night that involved delicious food and some Singapore Slings...a tropical cocktail that'll throw you for a whirl.
So I am off to Colombo now and will share more later.....I hope you are all well.
Cheers, Jake

Hi Jake,
Wow I can't believe the airline actually gave you some cash to buy clothes. Remember what happened to me when I visited you in Mt. Shasta?
I'm sure your bag will arrive eventually. As you said, the important thing is that you have your passport and yoga mat. Knowing you, that is all you really need.
Dad said he used to drink Singapore Slings when he was in college. His advice to you is "Don't drink too many".
Stay in touch - we look forward to hearing about your adventures.
Love Ya,
Mom
Hey Jakester,
It's so great to read your blog and picture you in Singapore. Wow! Just thinking about your grand adventure is giving me major wanderlust....
I'm SOOOO excited for you!!!
Hope your bag eventually finds you. Mine did in Kenya after a full week. That's really cool the airlines gave you cash, though. What airline was it?
In the meantime, blessings on your new life in Sri Lanka. May you dance with elephants and sing with the dolphins.
Hugs & Blessings,
--chris
p.s. Thanks for all your moral support on my B-day. It turned out well. Sarah & Lester showed up that morning with all the fixin's for yogurt sundaes, and we ended up sharing a really fun day together, shopping, eating, and gallery hopping -- complete with blues dancing last night. Yahoo!
